Toyota MR2 - 80s Sports Car
In 1980, Toyota started to take seriously the development of a new two-seater sports car - they started planning in the late 1970’s - to take on the likes of MG and Triumph. The MR2 featured a wedge-shaped front (very popular at the time), groovy pop-upo headlamps and best of all, beautiful road handling which knocked the socks off most of the competition. Oh, and there was still room in the boot and the front nose for your luggage!
Both exciting and practical at the same time, the MR2 was a sure-fire winner. The most popular model was the 1.6 Litre with 122bhp., although a 1.5 Litre with 83bhp was also available. The original Mk1 model has now become very collectible due to its characteristic features.
