Gibson Brothers - Cuba (12” Mix - HQ Stereo)

This stunning latin-style disco track reached #12 in the UK singles chart in 1980. Recorded in 1978, the song was originally released in 1979 but failed to break in to UK Top 40. However, a re-issue as a double A-side with Better Do It Salsa gave the Gibson Brothers their third chart hit.

Overall, the three brothers (Chris, Patrick and Alex) achieved success with four hit singles between 1979 and 1980. Other hits were Ooh! What A Life (#10 in 1979), Que Sera Mi Vida (#5 in 1980) and Mariana (#11 in 1980). The brothers are still recording and performing.

First released in 1965, Spirograph is a drawing toy (invented by Denys Fisher) that produces mathematical curves using a set of plastic gears/cogs that you would move around the inside of a larger ring using different coloured pens. So did you have one in the 70s or 80s? Great fun for a few hours, at least!
