Pole Position on an Atari 5200 (1983)
In the first half of the 80s, Pole Position set the benchmark for future racing games. Developed by Namco, the game’s realistic graphics went down a storm in the arcades, and following its success, it was then ported to 8-bit home computers and consoles by Atarisoft. The original arcade version was published by Atari in the U.S. and Namco in Japan. Enjoy this video clip of the Atari 5200 console version, which looks and sounds very similar to the Atari 8-bit computer version due to the almost identical internal hardware.
